Flat weave carpet construction from Nepal and crocheted artistry woven by women in Kenya are techniques not new to carpet designer, world traveler and creative Malene B. In fact, she continues the trend of intimate and contemporary carpet design with her new line of home goods.
Malene B. will be debuting her new Sion Hill Collection in New York at the 27th annual International Contemporary Furniture Fair (ICFF) show May 16-19. The collection features several product types including: Pillows, throws, bedding, carpet, tiles and wallpaper.
“This is going to give the client—whether it be the interior designer or the home owner—the opportunity to refresh their space and bring in cultural principality.
It encourages a connection to our global community with hopes of inspiring [people] to continue the quest of creating a space that speaks to who they are.”
Inspired by her mother, native to the lush and tropical island of St. Vincent and the Grenadines, the collection is immersed in color waves of turquoise, taupe, cream and black and a variety of purples. Each color and pattern takes on a different sensibility and shares a story of her childhood home in Connecticut influenced by her West Indian heritage.
“At the end of the day, the whole collection was created with the message and hope to inspire others to be worldly and live boldly.”
All products are made-to-order.
